I warned you....but you didn't listen, at least some of you

But there were the enlightened, the lucky and the giving who listened and did participate in bocce at the Special Olympics.   The ICD was well represented as monitors for a full day of the bocce  tournament that occurred at Cox Park this past Saturday.   From 7am to 12 and from 1 PM to 5, it was non-stop bocce with untold number of games that took place as both singles and doubles matches.  If weren't able to come, you missed real courage, determination and joy of these special athletes who played with excitment and skill the Italian game of bocce.   Because of the great work of our member .Joe Biondi, 4 years ago, bocce has been adopted now as an official competition in the Special Olympics.   With young and old alike able to play whether they are mentally or physically disabled, this great game has had an explosion of participation in the Special Olympics.  For me, the experience was beyond words.  The players are my heroes as are the members of the ICD who dedicated their day to make some deserving athletes very happy.
