What does it take...to be a great Italian Cook?

Surely we know the answer somewhere in our club membership. What does it take?  I am interested in seeing what the membership thinks are the requirements?  Can men be great Italian cooks?  Can you be a one trick pony, if you can cook one dish really good and still be considered a great Italian cook?  Do you even have to be Italian?  Help me find the answers.   Please place your comments on the blog for all to see.  Are you a great Italian cook?
