festa within a festa.....you're invited
On Saturday June 9th, all of Dallas knows the place to be is italia, the Italian festival in Addison celebrating all things Italian. D Magazine has named italia of one of top 5 things to do in the month of June in the Metroplex. Wow!! What a great endorsement. It will be loads of fun for all. Come early and spend the entire day enjoying the foods, the wines, the live performances and the games for kids.
I want to remind you about the festa within the festa, the Festa della Repubblica, the celebration of the Birth of a Nation, modern Italy. Although many of us were either unborn or very small on June 2nd, 1946, it is an important celebration that we are remembering on June 9th during the italia festival. It was a day that Italians voted either for a republic or to maintain the rule of the monarchy after many war-torn years.
In celebration of this , the ICD is inviting all of our members after they go to italia to come to a reception at the clubhouse at 6:30 pm for a food and wine reception and meet the Consul General of Italy from Houston, the Honorable Cristiano Maggipinto. All food, wine and desserts are compliments of Bice Ristorante and Paciugo.
We only ask one favor....if you are coming to the reception, you must RSVP to repubblica@itcd.org or call 972-995-2302 .. Don't miss it....

Sono Italiana e vivo negli States da anni.
Non capisco alcune cose di Italiani che vivono qui negli USA.
1)perche' quando fanno delle celebrazioni o feste Italiane lo comunicano solo in Inglese.
2) Le canzoni Italiane non sono solo Bocelli, Pavarotti o sole mio.
Si importa solo questo tipo di canzoni dall'Italia ma abbiamo tantissimi altri autori molto bravi, tipo, Vasco Rossi, Zucchero, Luca Carboni ecc ecc. Gli Americani non conoscono bene la nostra musica in quanto gli facciamo ascoltare solo quella classica e un po datata secondo me.
3) la cucina Italiana (in tanti Stati degli USA) viene modificata(secondo me in peggio) non posso certamente chiamarla cucina Italiana e non capisco perche' dato che tanti Americani AMANO la cucina nostra e qui il cibo viene cotto in tutt'altro modo. E per il vino... Bhe gli Americani certo non se ne intendono ecco perche qui si trova di quel vino...lasciamo perdere va', vedo che nessuno e un buon intenditore.
4) Trovo che si porti un messaggio al quanto distorto dell'Italia, del cibo, delle canzoni, del cinema ecc ecc e questo mi dispiace
Cara Italiana, We are also sorry that things here are not the same way in Italy. I belive nobody can ever do exacly the way Italians "In Italy" do. The media don't really help the not so famous singers from Italy,we lack to know all of them. Unfurtunately not many people here have a vineyard so they cannot have their own wine made. I am not a Italian, but I would love to live there one day!!
